An optimized and streamlined process devised for recruiting UX designers
Overview
Make it easier to evaluate and hire UX designers with our recruiting software flux.!
flux. is a centralized hiring platform that offers customizable workflows, automated evaluation tools, and collaboration features for the efficient evaluation of UX design applicants.
flux. was a finalist in the enterprise track at the DubsTech Protothon.

Problem
The current recruiting software market is filled with many applicant tracking and hiring platforms. However, these software are not optimized to hire UX designers. Furthermore, many companies especially young startups are still new to identifying good UX talent.
At the DubsTech Protothon, our challenge was to design recruiting software that makes it easier to manage and evaluate top talent from a sea of job applications, reducing time-to-hire and improving the candidate experience. We were given 24 hours to complete our project.
Research
Competitive analysis:
Our team researched the current competitors (LinkedIn, Workday, Lever, Greenhouse) with the objective to study their processes and evaluate the effectiveness of hiring UX designers.
Ideation
User Personas
From our problem statement, we created two user personas representing our main demographic and identified pain points as our solution targets.
User Flows
Our team created user flows to highlight the major aspects of our project:
Prototyping
Keeping our desired features in mind, we moved from low-fidelity prototypes to hi-fi mockups, bypassing the intermediate steps due to time constraints. The thoroughness of our initial sketches played a key role in streamlining our process.
Outcomes
Automated resume screening
To reduce the burden of manual resume screening for recruiters and efficiently identify qualified candidates, we opted to incorporate AI-powered tools that automate the filtering process for a large pool of applicants.
Workflow customizability
We eliminated the need for multiple external tools in managing the recruitment workflow by introducing a customizable drag-and-drop component. This feature allows for structuring the process according to each role's specific needs, including emphasizing the design portfolio or implementing a customized technical quiz.
Self-scheduling interviews
This feature avoids back-and-forth email communication for setting up interview timeslots by giving recruiters and hiring managers the option to send candidates their availability in-app. This allows candidates to self-schedule an interview.
Automated portfolio screening
Instead of looking through portfolios manually, we created a technical UX design quiz that acts as an automated tool to assess UX design qualifications.
Rubric evaluation tool
In order to streamline the recruitment process in evaluating UX talent objectively, we implemented a rubric system for quantitative evaluation of design challenges, and comparing candidates' statistics side-by-side.
Reflection
Despite the difficulties we faced working within a short timeframe, collaborating with a team of designers on this challenging track proved to be a very rewarding experience. To further improve this project, I would expand the flows for each outcome by adding more screens and conduct a round of usability tests which were unfortunately not feasible given the time constraint.
